Friday Agent Spotlight

Posted Friday, January 5, 2018 by Brittany Anderson

This week we sat down with Kelly Shaw and asked her some questions for our Friday Agent Spotlight. Kelly is a successful Elite Pacific Properties agent on the Big Island, specializing in West Hawaii properties. Kelly consistently lists unique North and South Kona properties with stunning views!

Tell us a little about yourself: I'm a native New Yorker who has lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for the past 20 years.  Prior to becoming a Realtor, I worked for Child and Family Services, working with foster children and running the local domestic abuse shelter.  I received my license to sell real estate in 2004.  Over the years I've worked diligently to build a referral-based clientele.  I love being a Realtor and helping people live their dreams.

What do you like best about living on the Big Island? Being a Long Islander from New York, I love living near the water.  I enjoy the beautiful tropical environment of Hawaii and living in the vibrant small village of Kailua-Kona.

What's your favorite activity outside of work? Walking on the beach, sharing time with friends, and participating in the local community by being of service.

What do you like most about working at Elite Pacific Properties? The company offers a tremendous level of support and technology that not only makes my job easier, but gives my clients maximum exposure and access to properties for sale in Hawaii.  In addition, I am truly honored to work among the best Realtors in the state of Hawaii.

Do you have a favorite home that you've sold recently? I think it's fun to sell homes in the Kaloko community, which is located above Kona, about 2,500 feet above sea level.  The terrain at that elevation is like a forest with lush foliage and shady trees.  It has a completely different vibe than the beach, which is only minutes away.

If someone is thinking about moving or buying property in Kona, what is your best advice? If you are planning a move to the island, spend some time here first.  Try to stay long enough to really experience island living.  If you are considering investment/vacation rental  property, work with a knowledgeable Realtor, who can help advise you on the most popular areas for vacationers.

What's your favorite beach on the Big Island and why? Hapuna Beach on the Kohala Coast, about a 45-minute drive from Kona.  The beach is expansive with soft white sand and very walkable.

If I wasn't selling real estate I'd be...Traveling the world and volunteering in my community.
