This week we sat down with Kauai agent, Martie Law and asked her some questions for our Agent Spotlight. Martie recently joined the Elite ohana, and we’re happy to have her! As a Kauai native, she understands the importance of community and she’s got a great sense of humor, too.
Tell us a little about yourself: I was born and raised on Kauai and never left! Being raised in a family of contractors really helped shaped my understanding of housing on Kauai from the ground up, literally. My grandfather was an active developer and contractor on Kauai back in the 70s and 80s and developed several neighborhoods and condo projects throughout Kauai. I have also had the great pleasure of working closely with my father, who has been a general contractor on Kauai for over 48 years. These two gentlemen have shaped my work ethic, and quality commitments to family, friends, and community with honesty, integrity, and just plain hard work. I am blessed to follow in their footsteps.
What do you like best about living on Kauai? The lifestyle on Kauai is generally laid back, with close community connections and aloha spirit. Being on an island as small as Kauai means you know everybody! Maintaining quality relationships with my community is a high priority for me. Our culture, natural resources, small size, and slowed down pace are the best features of Kauai and we strive tirelessly to preserve it.
What's your favorite activity outside of work? Photography and traveling
What do you like most about working at Elite Pacific Properties? like the incredible team support at Elite and their expectation of high-quality service to our clients. I feel that everyone at Elite is there to support the agent in being the best they can be, do what they need to do, with as little interference as possible, and let the agents do what they do best. Because of that, they make modifications all the time to grow as a company and a support team to catapult their agents into success. Thank you!
Do you have a favorite home that you've sold recently? My favorite sale so far has been Olu Pua Gardens. I actually sold it twice! It is a beautiful, historical estate sprawling 12 acres, with 5 homes that once operated as a botanical garden. The grounds were amazing, the homes were built in the 30s with a rich history and the privacy was amazing. I was also the property manager while I was selling it so I logged many many hours of hard work on the property which only grew my appreciation for it.
If someone is thinking about moving or buying property on Kauai, what is your best advice? Take your time to find the right side of the island for you and the right type of property. Don't use a price point as your only guide. Each area is different and has different amenities and allowable uses. You'll want to live where you feel most comfortable. Traffic is a constant battle on Kauai and living within your area will become ultra important. Expect to slow down, respect your neighbors and enjoy yourself once you live here.
What's your favorite beach on Kauai and why? If I told you my favorite beach, it wouldn't be anymore...lol. My second favorite beach is Hanalei Bay.
If I wasn’t selling real estate I’d be...an attorney
Martie loves her new carpet!
